As a search consulting firm, we are almost always consumed with filling positions for our clients. After all, that is why companies engage us. And pay us.
But almost every single week, there are senior professionals, who reach out to us, seeking change, advice on their careers, working styles of future employers, compensation, negotiation and how they ought to position themselves. Time permitting, and the manner of approach of the individual, we have always stretched ourselves to speak and even meet such people. It helps us  to gain insights about how leaders are navigating their careers. And without ever compromising on discretion, we share whatever we can. As we work across a number of industries and functions, we are able to look at parallels, unnoticed by most others. At times, we even put them on to talent leaders who we know, but who are not our clients, without any financial expectations. On other occasions, we ask them to stay put in their jobs. And at other times, move locations or even functions. Or even go ahead and further their academics.

Very recently, we were thrilled to receive a call from a very senior professional  who remembered to thank us for the advice which he said helped immensely in getting a really big job. We were the first ones he called! Felt good to have been a small part of a life changing journey. After all, a business that makes nothing but money is a poor business. Just ask Sunil, Srikanth, Arindam, Kapil, Javed, Girish and Ajay. This is after all, a people’s business. Giving back makes it better.
